At the age of 17 years in a young Steven Seagal has already appeared inflexible rod and a sense of harmony. That's when he decided to move to Japan to learn from the masters. In the early 70's, he met with a Japanese woman named Miyako Fudzitani, which became the mother of his first two children: son, Kentaro, and his daughter, Ayako.
Segal's first years in Japan were very cruel. It was hard to find a job to earn money for food, and it was hard to find a master who would take it to the disciples. Seagal Sensei says: "I find incredible Zen master Kenjutsu, but he lived in a monastery, and to deal with him, he had become a monk at the monastery. In order to become a monk in Japan, you must submit a written petition, written by the entire form, written, the attendant at the gate and wait for a response. I did not even deign to reply. The next day I came with a petition. The next day again ... This went on for a year. The 366-day attendant gave me a response stating that, unfortunately, the human places they do not, but there is a free doghouse. To which I asked for a brush and immediately wrote: I know how to bark, and crawl on all fours. Then I was invited inside. "
In 1975, Seagal Sensei became the first Japanese American to open a dojo! Being an American martial arts instructor in Japan proved to be very difficult to consistently different masters threw him a challenge to test its technical level. This lasted for two years, until Steven Seagal has not earned a reputation as one of the leading masters of Aikido in Japan. Ironic but true: Japan's reputation Steven Seagal was very similar to the fearsome reputation of the master of Daito-Ryu Aikijujutsu Takeda Takeda. Famous teacher
O-Sensei was conservative to the medieval samurai, which comes in hundreds of fights to the death, only to prove that his technique is stronger. Unfortunately, Takeda was not able to develop in himself the spiritual side of art, the master of which is Steven Seagal.
Philosophy Seagal Sensei in teaching Aikido simple: "It must be effective on the street!" Many aikido masters have developed many different styles, and their technique is very passive. The passive style of aikido can take in combat. I do not want to make myself misunderstood. Seagal Sensei is not pushing the students to unnecessary constant fights. He simply said that if someone is attacked, sumey defend themselves! Aikido Steven Seagal is firmly tied to the philosophical roots of religion Omoto-kyo - religion O-sensei!
Seagal Sensei has devoted follower of Shinto religion, and especially of the sect Omoto-kyo, in which
O-Sensei was a member. Immediately on arrival in Japan, Seagal Sensei began to spend much time in meditation and prayer, and he immediately noticed that his vehicle began to change. Seagal Sensei trained strictly for 8 hours a day! And even now, becoming a celebrity Seagal Sensei trains at least 4 hours a day and not less than 2 hours a day meditating.
At some point, Sigal-sensei feel that at an impasse in its development. And he began to look for mystical teachers of O-Sensei. Shihan Seagal studied with great masters such as SEA, Tohei, Isoyama and Abe.
The latter is necessary to speak separately. By the end of their research Shihan Seagal finally met a man who could take him out of the impasse. Great masters of calligraphy and Aikido Seyseki Abe. Abe-sensei has 10 Dan in Aikido and is a master of calligraphy at the public domain in Japan. He is the administrator of a worldwide staff of Aiki-Kai in Tokyo. Abe Sensei was awarded the Order of the Japanese government Budo Korosya for magnificence in the martial arts. He is a senior instructor at 11 universities. He was a teacher, O-Sensei on calligraphy! His calligraphic works were exhibited throughout the world, including the famous festival on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills in 1982. He was a teacher Steven Seagal. Grand Master Abe visits annually Tenshin Bugey Gakuen to conduct seminars on Aikido and calligraphy. Abe-sensei remembered about Shihan Seagal: "Take-Sensei in Japan has earned the fame of a great master of Aikido. And when I met him, he wanted to find out more about training with O-Sensei. I was shocked by the technique of Aikido and agreed to take him in individual students. Later, we participated together in many seminars. "
